About Dylan:
Dylan Davis was born in Evergreen, Colorado, and began to develop a taste and skill for the arts at a young age. His formal study began during his junior and senior years of high school while attending the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, where he gained artistic inspiration and found intellectual freedom. Consequently, Dylan began the first of many commissions the summer following his completion of boarding school. He continued his art study at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in 2005. Upon graduation, he spent two years in New York City prior to moving Washington, DC.
The art selected for dylanFINEarts.com embodies a new form with a focus on allowing the medium to control the image as much as the brush. The dramatic figures express an unknown direction. The paintings are not meant to be dark, but rather state situations through the artist’s eyes.
Figurative imagery, along with experimentation with material are taking Dylan’s art in new directions, allowing him draw not only from his ideal image but from the complexity of the process. While art is often expressed only through a rigid idealism, the process behind these works are instead dictated by what was ultimately created. The freedom gained by letting the medium dictate the direction has been an exhilarating experience with each day bringing new excitement as paint meets canvas.
